SEOSearch intent mapping

Match the intent, not just the keyword.

You get pages that fit what the searcher actually wants, so they rank instead of fighting the query. We classify every target term by whether the intent is to learn, compare or buy, and match the page type to it.

The short answer

Search intent mapping is the work of classifying each target keyword by the goal behind it, informational, commercial, transactional or navigational, and deciding the page type, format and angle that satisfies it. It is where most content plans quietly go wrong: a buying query answered with a blog post, or a research query answered with a product page, will underperform no matter how well written. Getting intent right decides whether a page is eligible to rank at all.

In depth

Search intent mapping, in full.

Most underperforming content is not badly written; it is aimed at the wrong intent. The writer targeted a keyword without asking what the person typing it actually wanted, so the page answers a question nobody with that query is asking.

We fix that before a word is written. Each term is classified by intent and mapped to the page type that satisfies it, so the content plan is built on what buyers want rather than on search volume alone.

The maths of content

Content is the only asset that keeps earning after you stop paying.

These are industry figures, not our own results, and we do not invent numbers. A page written once can earn traffic for years, where an ad stops the day the budget does. No outcome is ever guaranteed.

What it covers

Search intent mapping, broken down.

SERP analysis per term

What Google already ranks for a query, read as evidence of the intent it has settled on, so your page fits rather than fights it.

Intent classification

Every target term sorted into learn, compare or buy, with mixed-intent terms split so each is served by the right page.

Page-type mapping

Each intent matched to a format, guide, comparison, service or product page, so the plan is a blueprint, not a keyword list.

How we run it

The way we run Search intent mapping.

01

Gather the terms

We start from real keyword and demand research, so the map covers what your market actually searches.

02

Classify and map

Each term is classified by intent and matched to a page type and angle.

03

Hand to content

The map becomes briefs, so writers know exactly what each page must do to rank.

Our approach

How we approach Search intent mapping.

Read the SERP, not just the term

The results Google already shows for a query reveal the intent it has decided on. We read them rather than guess, so the page matches what actually ranks.

Classify by goal

Every term is sorted by whether the searcher wants to learn, compare or buy, and mixed-intent terms are split so each is served properly.

Decide the page type

Intent dictates the format: a guide, a comparison, a service page or a product page. We map each cluster to the right one before anything is written.

Sequence by commercial value

Intent and pipeline together decide the order, so effort starts on the queries most likely to become enquiries.

ANSWER ENGINE OPTIMISATION

Cited where your buyers actually look.

It is not just the AI engines. The name that keeps coming up is the one the trade press, the directories, the communities and the assistants all point to. We build every one of those signals so the answer resolves to you.

Why us

Intent read from the SERP, not assumed

The strongest evidence of intent is what Google already chooses to rank. We read the live results for each term rather than guessing, so the page type we recommend is the one the query actually rewards.

Evidence, not opinion

Intent is inferred from the results that already rank, so it can be argued on the data rather than settled by preference.

Mixed intent handled

We split terms that mean different things to different searchers, instead of forcing one page to serve both badly.

Tied to pipeline

The plan is sequenced by commercial value, so intent work translates into enquiries, not just rankings.

Common questions

Search intent mapping: common questions.

What is search intent?

Search intent is the goal behind a query: whether the person wants to learn something, compare options, or buy. Google ranks pages that match the dominant intent, so getting it right decides whether a page is even eligible.

How do you work out the intent of a keyword?

Primarily by reading the results Google already ranks for it. If the page-one results are guides, the intent is informational; if they are product or service pages, it is commercial. We read that signal rather than guess.

Why does intent matter more than search volume?

A high-volume term you answer with the wrong page type will not rank, so its volume is worthless to you. A lower-volume term matched to the right intent often out-earns it.

Does this replace keyword research?

No, it builds on it. Keyword research finds the demand; intent mapping decides how to serve it. They run together.
